The amount of debris you need to dispose of greatly influences the overall price of your dumpster.
Here’s how the weight of your debris is measured:
- When you’re done filling up your dumpster, the dumpster provider comes to pick up the dumpster from your site and drives it to the landfill.
- Once at the landfill, the truck and dumpster drive onto a scale. The total weight of the dumpster, truck, and debris is measured.
- Then, the truck tips and empties the dumpster.
- As the truck is leaving the landfill, it drives over another scale and calculates how much the truck and dumpster weigh without the debris.
- This reveals how much the debris weighed; this is what you get billed for. If the weight of your debris is more than the dumpster's weight limit included in your dumpster rental quote, you will have to pay an overage fee, too.
