How much do different wastes weigh?
The weight of various wastes or debris can vary significantly.
Here are some examples:
- Household junk and trash: 800 lbs per yard
- Concrete or asphalt: 2,400 lbs per yard
- Lumber: 400 lbs per yard
- Yard wastes: 600 lbs per yard
- Earth or sand: 2,100-3,000 lbs per yard
Exceeding the weight allowance that comes with your rented dumpster can leave you subject to overage fees ranging from $75 to $150 per ton.
What if I can’t load the debris myself?
Hiring a junk removal company may be the best solution. Some dumpster rental providers may offer to load the dumpster for an additional charge, but this isn’t the norm.
Hiring a junk removal service is a cost-effective option for smaller cleanups and may even be less expensive compared to renting a dumpster in some instances.
