How much does it cost to rent a dumpster?
The average cost to rent a dumpster in the U.S. is $550 but can cost as low as $250 and as high as $750+ depending on how big the dumpster is, the weight allowance included, who you rent from, etc. Where you live, the size of the dumpster, the amount and type of debris, and other factors that affect how much your dumpster rental will cost.
Renting a dumpster that is too small for your project could force you to pay extra in one way or another:
- Overage fees if the weight of your full dumpster exceeds the weight allowance you were quoted
- Renting a second dumpster to finish the job
- If you aren’t there when the dumpster is picked up, and the truck driver has to unload some of the debris, you may incur additional fees for the labor
